Dear
Flock of Victory,
The scriptures declare in Luke 1:35, “And the angel
answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the
power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing
which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”
The angel Gabriel has just given Mary a tremendous message. Earlier the
angel told her that his name would be Jesus, but now
the angel gives her a more important title for her virgin born son. Mary
had the witness of the angel Gabriel that the Son of God
was to be born through her.
Luke 4:40-41 gives us more interesting information, “Now
when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases
brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and
healed them. And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying,
Thou art Christ (anointed one) the Son of God.
And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he
was Christ.” Notice that the devils knew who he was – the
Son of God.
Luke 8:27-28 continues, “And when he went forth
to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils
long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the
tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and
with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou
Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.”
Upon reading further you will find that when Jesus asked for the name
of the devil, he was told Legion for there were many in this man. Notice
that the spirit world knows that Jesus is the Son of God.
Matthew 14:31-33 tells of Peter walking on the water,
“ And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him,
(Peter) and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou
doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they
that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou
art the Son of God.” The disciples of Jesus had
indeed witnessed a wonderful supernatural event and spoke immediately
of his title given to him by God.
John records in John 1:32-34, “And John bare record,
saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode
upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water,
the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.”
John also is a witness to Jesus being the Son of God.
John 1:49 continues, “Nathanael answered and said
unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the
King of Israel.” Nathan also is in the line of witnesses of experiencing
the supernatural power of Jesus the Son of God.
John 11:24-27 gives insight into Martha’s life,
“Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection
at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life:
he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever
liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith
unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son
of God, which should come into the world.” Martha knew
deep inside the fantastic truth that Jesus truly is the Son of
God.
Matthew 27:50-54 gives us the final scene on the cross
of Jesus, “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded
up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from
the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And
the graves were opened; and many
