individuals in the church and then submitting to one another as the Holy Spirit gives the direction for the church. If the church seeks the direction of the Spirit in prayer he will always answer according to the humility of the heart that asks.
Second Corinthians 3:18 speaks plainly, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. ”The Holy Spirit is the one that transforms us into the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. Growing in the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is not only head knowledge but a total changing in our lives daily as we crucify ourselves and let Jesus have his way in our lives. Notice that it is the Holy Spirit that is in charge of changing us on a daily basis to be more like Jesus and for more people to see the change in our lives. Therefore, praying in the Spirit is needed for one to change and act like Jesus on a daily basis.
Ephesians 3:5 states, “ Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.” The Spirit will even reveal things to come. God’s church is to be totally in the dominion of the Holy Spirit. Praise the Lord that there is a return to things supernatural in the kingdom of God across the earth at the present time. Many are realizing that theologians do not have the answer since they operate in the power of the fleshly mind and are not operating in the power of the Holy Spirit. They tear apart words in the Greek and the Hebrew in the power of the mind and not of the Holy Spirit. One needs to learn how to get quiet and listen to the Spirit’s voice in order to do the will of God.
Ist Peter 3:18 informs us, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” The word quickened means to bring to life, make alive. It was the Holy Spirit that brought Jesus back to life after he was dead. That same Holy Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us today and makes our bodies the temple of God. This is truly a great reward for all the believers in Jesus.
Ist John 3:24 gives hope, “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” Abideth means to dwell in or be at home in. We know that God abides in us by the Spirit. We worship God in Spirit and in truth. Sad to say that many churches have board meetings to talk about the direction of the church and let people give their opinions and then vote. The Holy Spirit is not involved at all in the decisions to be made. The Holy Spirit not only lets us know if we are children of God but is there to communicate with us at all times and lead us the ways of the one true God.
Is the Holy Spirit working in your life in all these ways that have been given you by the scriptures that have been quoted to you in this article? Do you see the need to spend more time in prayer seeking the Spirit’s voice for decisions that need to be made? We all need to operate our lives in the experience of the Holy Spirit and not in the education of the spirit of the world. Dreams, trances, the word of God both written and oral are a few of the ways God’s Spirit can communicate with you. Do not limit the Spirit’s work in your life to be pleasing to God.
