SUBMIT YOURSELVES

Submit – to subordinate, to obey, be under, obedience, be in subjection
to, submit self unto, to yield to another

1. James 4:7 – Submit yourselves therefore to God

As a born again child of God do you find it easy to submit to your Heavenly Father now that you are a new creature in Christ Jesus? Do you hunger to know more of His Word and then put it into practice? Do you still have a problem with wanting to be in control of your life? Are you still in that tremendous “2” years old stage of spiritual life and tell God “No” to his commands for your life? How do you submit to God?

2. Hebrews 13:7,17 – Obey them that have the rule over you and submit yourselves

Who has the rule over you spiritually? Does the Holy Spirit make it easy to submit to them? Does God hold you accountable to submit to them? To whom is it easier to submit to: God or those that have the rule over you?

3. 1st Peter 5:5 – Likewise ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder.

Who is your elder? Does it make a difference if they are Christian or not?

4. Ephesians 5:22-24 – wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord…as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything.

Is your relationship with your husband just like your relationship with the Lord? How do you submit to the Lord and to your husband in everything? What areas of your life do you need to work on to be obedient to these verses?

5. Colossians 3:18 – Wives submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord. “Fit” – be proper, to attain to, convenient, be fit

What kind of submission is “proper” in the eyes of God? To what degree or depth of submission is God joyful with in your life? Are you sensitive in knowing when your submission level is not pleasing to God?

6. Ist Peter 3:1-6 – Likewise, ye wives be in subjection to your own husbands, that if any obey not the word…

Does your conversation (lifestyle) of submission to your husband put him under conviction of the Holy Spirit to be more Godly in his lifestyle? Can your husband sense in you a dynamic walk with the Lord Jesus?

7. Ist. Corinthians 11:7 – but the woman is the glory of the man

Glory – to brag, boast, worship, exhalt

Does your husband give you compliments for your godliness? Does he brag about you to others for your meek and quiet spirit? Is your husband excited to be in your presence? How will submission to his authority in Jesus elevate you in his eyes? Does your husband have a companion in submission to Jesus or does he live with a Jezebel?
