Ephesians 5:22 - “Wives
submit yourselves”
“submit” – to arrange under, be in subjection,
to submit to one’s control, to
yield to one’s admonition or advice, to obey
Wives submit:
1. unto your own husband
2. as unto the Lord
“Lord” – (kurios) – he to whom a person
or thing belongs, Master, Owner
Colossians 3:18
Ephesians 5:23 - “For the husband is”
1. head of the wife
2. as Christ is head of the church
3. is the Saviour of the body
lst Corinthians 11:13
“the head of the wife” – Master
Lord, anything supreme, chief, prominent,
(loss of the head destroys life)
“even as” – like, same
“as Christ ( the Anointed One, Messiah) is the head
of the Church” – the assembly
“and he is the Saviour” – deliverer,
preserver
“of the body” – physical body
Ephesians 5:24 - “Therefore as the church is”
“subject” – military term, “to
arrange (troop divisions) in a military fashion under the
command of a leader
“unto Christ” – the anointed
one
Ephesians 5:24 “so let the
wives be to their own husbands”
“in
every thing” – all things, all manner
of, whatsoever, individually ( each,
every, all) and collectively

“cleanse it” – make clean,
to free from the defilement of sin, to purify`
“with the washing of water” – bathing,
bath

in great esteem, honorable, of high repute

“should be holy” – most holy

blame, faultless, without rebuke

foster with tender care
“even as the Lord the church” – Jesus
feeds and cares for us very tenderly

earth is the example of the spiritual relationship with Christ

of God
“even as himself” – feed and
care for
“the wife see that she reverence
her husband” - fear,
be afraid, reverential obedience
